Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of Deluxe hotels at Walt Disney World Resort, but not all Deluxe hotels are created equal. Each of the hotels has something that sets it apart from the others. Let’s talk a little bit about what sets the AKL apart from the other Deluxe resorts.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge offers many of the same amenities as the other Deluxe hotels including spacious guest rooms, balconies, incredible dining experiences, and that famous Disney World service you’ll find at all the Disney World hotels.

But unlike any other hotel on property, at the Animal Kingdom Lodge you’ll find hundreds of wild animals roaming several savannas that surround the hotel. If you’re lucky enough to book a Savanna view room you can wake up every morning and gaze at the giraffes and zebras from your balcony. You can’t find that anywhere else on property.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is also home to hundreds of pieces of authentic African artwork and you’ll see examples of it from the minute you enter the amazing lobby of the hotel. While the other Deluxe hotels have lovely lobbies (some, like the Wilderness Lodge, are simply breathtaking), you won’t find the kind of artwork and themeing like you do at AKL.

And finally we need to talk about the dining. Yes, there are amazing restaurants at quite a few of the Deluxe resorts – California Grill, Victoria & Albert’s, and Ohana to name a few – but there’s something so unique about Sanaa and Jiko that even if you aren’t staying at the AKL you need to make the trip to the southwest corner of Walt Disney World to experience these restaurants.
